This baby is finally full term, which is very exciting for Aaron and I. We didn't think we were going to make it actually as the babe threatened to make an early appearance last weekend. Aaron made a last minute flight change to come home from his good friend's wedding on Saturday night. There has never been such a well dressed man on a West Jet flight. I can only imagine what other people were thinking. He may have been a bit sorry to miss dessert and the late night snack (poutine - nice Jory and Paula!) but as he said "it was time to get the team back together again". I was VERY glad to have him home. I can't believe how naive you can be with a first time pregnancy. Things seem to have settled down a bit now though and I think that perhaps this baby has decided that maybe life on the inside isn't so bad after all. Or maybe she just decided that it was in his best interest to give me some time off between work and motherhood.
37 weeks also means that we can have the baby at home and final preparations are under way. Aaron has done a leak and pressure test on the birthing pool, found just the right tap modification device. Unlike my neighbor, he has not done weight calculations to make sure that the pool won't fall through the floor but we're pretty sure we'll be ok on that front. In 1912 they really strong fir beams and we've tried to drill through them with limited success in the past. I just hope I feel like getting in the pool when the time comes.

Fernie "Before"
So now that Fernie is pretty much set up, I thought I'd post a "before" picture to remind us of what it looked like that first weekend we took possession. I had some major second thoughts but Aaron was gung ho from the start.
We had a great first ski season and are halfway through our first biking season (well not so much for me). It has been great sharing the place with friends and family. Hope we have many more years of fun. I'll try and remember to take some "after" pictures this long weekend. It will probably be the last one before the baby comes....Crazy! We're pretty excited to introduce him or her to this amazing place.
